Postgame Notes
• Indiana posted its first Big Ten shutout since Oct. 30, 1993, a 10-0 win vs. No. 22 Michigan State.
• The Hoosiers recorded their second shutout of 2017 (Charleston Southern, 27-0). The last time they blanked two opponents in one season came back in 1993 (No. 22 Michigan State, at Northwestern, Toledo).
• IU's 41-point victory is its largest margin against a conference foe since a 42-0 win at Northwestern on Oct. 6, 1990, and its fourth-largest ever.
• Indiana has surrendered 14 points over the last two weeks, the fewest in back-to-back league games since it allowed zero at Northwestern (Oct. 23) and vs. No. 22 Michigan State (Oct. 30) in 1993.
• Senior tight end Ian Thomas made four receptions for a career-high 93 yards with a 57-yard touchdown. The 57-yarder is the Hoosiers second-longest of the season. Thomas also holds the top spot with a 71-yarder against Georgia Southern on Sept. 23.
• The Baltimore native's five touchdowns are second and his 376 yards are seventh on IU's single-season lists for tight ends.
• Fifth-year senior Richard Lagow completed 17-of-28 for 236 yards with two TDs. It marks his fourth multi-score game of 2017 and the 11th of his career.
• Lagow is eighth in career passing yardage, completions and attempts, and ninth in total offense on Indiana's career charts.
• True freshman running back Morgan Ellison collected the second 100-yard game of his career with 149 yards on 15 attempts (9.9 average). He added two touchdowns, his second career multi-TD game.
• Ellison's career-long 45-yard rush set up his second score.
• Redshirt freshman running back Cole Gest tallied his first career 100-yard game with 104 yards on 23 carries (4.5 average) along with his first career rushing score.
• True freshman Whop Philyor finished with four receptions for 70 yards with a career-long 37-yarder.
• Redshirt junior wide receiver Luke Timian carded a 20-yard touchdown, his second this season and the fourth of his career. He caught three balls for 35 yards. Timian's 62 receptions this season rank 11th all-time at Indiana.
• Redshirt junior wide receiver Simmie Cobbs Jr. finished the game with 20 yards on two receptions. Cobbs' 65 receptions this year are eighth on the IU single-season chart. For his career, Cobbs now has 1,885 yards on 132 receptions, both of which rank 10th in Indiana history.
• Fifth-year cornerback Rashard Fant notched his third career fumble recovery on a muffed punt to set up the Hoosiers first touchdown. Fant also collected a solo tackle in the win.
• Senior defensive end Greg Gooch recorded his first multi-sack game, bringing his total to 4.5 on the season and 6.5 in his career. Gooch added his second forced fumble of the season, the fourth of his career, and matched a career-high with four solos.
• Senior defensive back Tony Fields grabbed his first career sack. In the third quarter, Fields recovered his first career fumble after it was forced out on the strip sack by Gooch.
• It was the 12th takeaway of the season for the Hoosiers. They have scored 52 points off of the 12 takeaways.
• Fifth-year senior safety Chase Dutra and senior linebacker Chris Covington led the team with six tackles apiece. Covington also recorded a tackle for loss.
• Robert McCray III registered four quarterback hurries and teamed up with Ja'merez Bowen for a sack.
• Fifth-year senior kicker Griffin Oakes converted all five extra point attempts, bringing his career total to 144, second all-time at Indiana.
• With a pair of field goals, Oakes pushed his career total to 68 makes, tying him for the fifth most career field goals in Big Ten history.
• With his second make, Oakes tallied his 10th straight field goal, tying him for the fifth-most consecutive field goals in program history. This is the second time he has had a double-digit consecutive field goal streak in his career (11).
• The 15 field goals on the season ties Oakes for the seventh-most in program history.
• Oakes' 348 career points move him into eighth all-time in the Big Ten.
• IU celebrated the 50th anniversary of its 1968 Rose Bowl team.

• Indiana won the opening coin toss and deferred. The Hoosiers are 6-for-11 in coin tosses this season.
