Bloomington to Switzerland: Catching up with Jazzmine McDonald
11/2/2017 9:41:00 AM | Women's Volleyball
Bloomington, Ind. – Indiana volleyball alum Jazzmine McDonald is currently playing professionally in Switzerland. Her team VBC Cheseaux LNA plays in Cheseaux-Sur Lausanne, which is about 45 minutes from Geneva.
In her senior year at Indiana, McDonald earned All-Big Ten Honors and finished the season with a .364 hitting percentage, the second best single season hitting percentage in program history. Her .294 career hitting percentage also ranks second best in school history.
McDonald and her team are still in the early part of their season, but feel it will be a promising season ahead. They will play until December 20 and then have a week break and resume the season January 6 until near the end of April.

The experience playing here in Switzerland has been amazing so far! I think that I have improved the most in defense and serving in the last year, due to playing in the World University Games and here now. Middles are expected to be more involved than they are in college (such as setting the second ball if the setter gets taken out and the libero can't get to it).
The most fun thing about living in Switzerland is that I can visit things like Lake Geneva, the city of Lausanne and Geneva are both within 45 minutes or less. There are so many beautiful things to do here that are quick and easy to visit/access.

I have been to France for one of our preseason tournaments and then our coach gave us a weekend off since we had been playing and practicing so much, so I flew to Asturias, Spain for a few days.
