NOTES: Indiana Set To Host Arkansas State on Wednesday

OPENING TIP
•   The 118th season of Indiana basketball continues on Wednesday when the Hoosiers host the Red Wolves of Arkansas State in IU's third game of the Hoosier-Tip-Off Classic. The Hoosiers are coming off a 70-53 win at home against South Florida. They also have defeated Howard, 86-77, in this event. Arkansas State and Eastern Michigan also are part of the MTE (multi-team event) with each team playing four games.

•This will be the first meeting between the two programs. Arkansas State is a member of the Sun Belt Conference and IU is 6-0 against teams from that league.

• In the last two home games, IU is held Howard and South Florida to 35.0% shooting from the field. Against South Florida, IU held the Bulls to 34.0% from the field and 29.4% from three-point range. In the second half, the Bulls connected on just 24.0% from the floor and 10.0% from long distance.

THE COACHES
•   Archie Miller is the 29th head coach in Indiana men's basketball history. The 39-year old native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, comes to IU after serving the previous six seasons as head coach at the University of Dayton, where he won Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championships in 2016 and 2017. He was Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2017. He guided the Flyers to a 139-63 record (69.8) and a 68-34 mark (66.7) in the Atlantic 10. He took Dayton to the NCAA Tournament each of the last four years with the Flyers advancing to the Elite Eight in the 2014 Tournament. UD was nationally ranked in three of Miller's six seasons (2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16).

•   Mike Balado is in his first year of leading Arkansas State. He was an assistant at Louisville from 2013-17. He also has been on staffs at Florida International, High Point, Miami (Fla.) and Florida Atlantic.

• The Hoosiers are in a stretch where 4 of their next 5 games will be played in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

• The Hoosiers have shot over 50.0% from the floor in 5 of 8 halves this season.

• Sophomore De'Ron Davis is the top shooter in the Big Ten making 76.9% of his field goal attempts (20/26).

• Senior forward Collin Hartman has not played in the regular season due to a groin injury. He missed one exhibition game due to a sprained ankle, missed all of last season due to knee surgery and played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament with a broken wrist. Since the 2014-15 season, IU is 47-20 in games that he has played and 20-20 in games he has not played in.

• With 21 points against South Florida, senior Robert Johnson is now in 49th place on the IU all-time scoring list with 1,032 points. Jay Edwards is 48th with 1,038 points.

• Junior Juwan Morgan had his second career double-double with 15 points and 10 boards against USF. His 7 offensive boards, 9 free throws made and 4 blocked shots matched or established career-highs.

• The Hoosiers will host Eastern Michigan (Nov. 24) to round out the Hoosier Tip-Off Classic. Indiana will finish off the four-game homestand against #1 Duke (Nov. 29) in the annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Hoosiers then begin Big Ten Conference play at Michigan (Dec. 2) and at home against Iowa (Dec. 4). IU will then travel to #18 Louisville (Dec. 9) and play #12 Notre Dame (Dec. 16) in Indianapolis in the Crossroads Classic.

(1) Since shooting 41.4% from the line against Howard, IU has made 27 of its last 37 free throws for a 72.9% effort.
(2) IU has forced 15 turnovers or more three times this season ISU (19), Seton Hall (15)and South Florida (17).
(3) In his last three games, senior Robert Johnson is shooting 59.4% from the field and and 50.0% from three-point range. He has made 19 of his last 32 field goal attempts and 5 of 10 from long distance.
