Postgame Notes
• IU captured the championship of the Hoosier Tip-Off Classic going 4-0 in the event. It is the program's first in-season tournament title since capturing the 2012 Legends Classic in Brooklyn.
• IU senior Robert Johnson was named MVP of the event. He averaged 15.8 points and 4.5 rebounds along with 3.7 assists in four games. He shot 57.1% from the field and 52.6% from three-point distance.
• After EMU closed the gap to 49-47 with 14:32 to play in the game, the Hoosiers outscored the Eagles, 38-20 the remainder of the game.
• Indiana converted 12-of-21 3-point attempts, posting season highs for made 3-pointers and efficiency behind the arc (57.1%). The finished the game making 11 of their final 15 three-point attempts after starting 1 of 6.
• The Hoosiers shot 53.4% from the field.
• IU's bench outscored the Eagle reserves, 29-16.
• The Hoosiers saw nine different players score a field goal in the first half. Nine of Indiana's first 13 field goal makes came from different players. Indiana found field goals from 10-of-11 players that entered the game.
• The Hoosiers' eight turnovers ties a season low, matching the eight turnovers against Arkansas State (11/22).
• After EMU shot 63.6% from three-point land in the first half (7/11), IU held the Eagles to 20% shooting from long distance (2/10) in the second half. The also held, EMU's leading scorer, Elijah Minnie (20 points) without a point the final 18 minutes of the game.
• Johnson led four Hoosiers in double figures with 18 points as he knocked down 4 of 6 treys.
• Senior Josh Newkirk had 17 points, 4 assists and 2 steals. He nailed 5 of 6 from three-point range.
• Sophomore De'Ron Davis was limited to 13 minutes and had 11 points, 4 boards and 2 assists. He made all 4 of his field goal attempts and all 3 of his free throws.
• His replacement, Freddie McSwain Jr. had a career-high 10 points and added 9 rebounds.
• Freshman Aljami Durham had 6 points and 5 assists without a turnover. He has now played 167 minutes and has 18 assists and just 2 turnovers in the first 6 games of his college career.
• Junior Juwan Morgan had 7 points and 4 rebounds and added 2 assists and 2 blocked shots.
• Freshman Justin Smith had 6 points and 5 rebounds off the bench. Junior Zach McRoberts saw his most extensive playing time and had 4 points and 3 rebounds in 8 minutes.
• Senior Collin Hartman, who had missed the first 5 games of the season with a groin injury, played and hit his only 3-point attempt. He had a rebound and an assist in 6 minutes.
