Postgame Notes
• Redshirt freshman wide receiver Taysir Mack led the Hoosiers with a career-high 132 yards on a career-high-tying seven receptions, including a career-best 52-yarder in the fourth quarter. Mack's 4-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter was his third of the season. He finished 2017 with two 100-yard games.
• Redshirt junior running back Ricky Brookins set career-highs in receptions (8), receiving yards (48) and rushing yards (71). His 64-yard rush in the second quarter is also career-best. Last time the Hoosiers had a run of 60 yards or more came on a 66-yard run by Devine Redding against Rutgers on Oct. 17, 2015.
• Fifth-year senior quarterback Richard Lagow finished the game with three touchdowns and 373 yards, the fourth time this season he has passed for more than 300 yards and three-or-more TDs. His 32 completions share ninth and his 60 attempts are third on IU's single-game lists.
• Lagow is sixth in passing touchdowns (34), eighth in passing yardage (5,298), sixth in completions (425), seventh in attempts (733) and ninth in total offense (5,060) in Indiana history.
• Redshirt junior wide receiver Simmie Cobbs Jr. caught seven passes for 105 yards, including a 1-yard TD reception in the first quarter. He ended the year with three 100-yard games and has seven in his career.
• Cobbs ranks eighth with 1,990 career receiving yards and eighth with 139 career receptions.
• The Oak Park, Ill., native is tied for fourth with 72 receptions and tied for 10th with eight receiving touchdowns on Indiana's single-season charts.
• It is the second time this season Indiana has had two receivers reach the 100-yard mark in the same game.
• Redshirt junior wide receiver Luke Timian brought in six passes for 69 yards. Timian is tied for fifth with 68 receptions on Indiana's single season list.
• Senior linebacker Tegray Scales posted a sack, fumble recovery and six tackles, with five being solo. Scales is third with 46.0 tackles for loss, sixth with 18.0 sacks and 10th with 325 tackles in program history.
• It marked the sixth sack of the season for the Cincinnati native.
• Scales' first-quarter fumble recovery was the second of his career and his 11th takeaway. He also had a recovery at Illinois on Nov. 11.
• The takeaway was the first career forced fumble for redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Gavin Everett. The recovery was the eighth of the season for the Hoosiers and the 13th takeaway. IU has scored 59 points off of the 13 takeaways.
• Fifth-year senior safety Chase Dutra led the Indiana defense with 11 tackles, including 10 solo stops. It marked his fourth double-digit tackle game of the season and the seventh of his career.
• Junior safety Jonathan Crawford recorded eight tackles – with all being solo – tying his career-high.
• Fifth-year senior kicker Griffin Oakes is IU's all-time field goals (69) leader and sits second with 147 extra points and 354 total points.
• On the Big Ten career lists, Oakes is fifth with 69 field goals and tied for eighth with 354 total points.
• The Greenwood, Ind. is tied for fourth with 16 field goals, tied for sixth with 38 extra points and 11th with 86 total points on Indiana single-season leaders after he made his lone field goal attempt and all three PATs this afternoon.
• Oakes attempted two onside kicks in the fourth quarter, successfully converting one and moving him to 6-of-9 in career attempts.
• Redshirt sophomore punter Haydon Whitehead placed four punts inside the 20-yard line, bringing his total to 33 on the season. Whitehead had a pair of punts that pinned the Boilermakers inside the 10-yard line, moving his total to 15.
• Redshirt sophomore returner Devonte Williams sits sixth all-time at Indiana with 1,511 kick return yards.
• Freshman receiver Whop Philyor brought back a pair of kickoffs for 47 yards. Philyor also scored his third career receiving touchdown in the fourth quarter, a 9-yarder.
• Redshirt junior offensive lineman Wes Martin (12th-time this season), senior linebacker Tegray Scales (12th), fifth-year senior quarterback Richard Lagow (12th) and senior defensive end Greg Gooch (12th) served as today's game captains.
• Indiana won the opening coin toss and deferred. The Hoosiers were 7-for-12 in coin tosses this season.
