Ramsey Leads Four Frosh on BTN.com Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana redshirt freshman quarterback Peyton Ramsey landed on BTN.com's All-Freshman Team. True freshman running back Morgan Ellison, true freshman wide receiver Whop Philyor and redshirt freshman defensive lineman Jerome Johnson received honorable mention recognition.
Ramsey finished the season 134-of-205 (65.4 percent) for 1,252 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions in four starts (8 games). He owned 226 rushing yards, which was third on the team, with two TDs. Ramsey was 10th in the Big Ten in passing scores and yardage.
The Cincinnati native made his first career start and picked up his first career victory against Charleston Southern. Ramsey threw for 321 yards on 32-of-41 (78.0) with two touchdowns, rushed for 54 yards on 15 carries and recovered a fumble for a TD.
Ramsey became the first IU freshman to throw for 300-plus yards since Kellen Lewis (321 yards) at Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2006, and his 32 completions share ninth on the Hoosiers single-game list.
He completed 16-of-20 (80.0) for 173 yards and two scores (29, 32 yards) in addition to 42 rushing yards on 12 attempts with a 26-yard touchdown in the win at Virginia. Ramsey's completion percentage is the second-highest single-game clip in Indiana lore. At Maryland, he went 31-of-41 (75.6) for 279 yards with a career-high three passing touchdowns.
Ellison paced the team with 704 yards, 143 attempts, a 4.9 average and six TDs. His 704 yards stand third among true freshmen running backs in the Big Ten (10th overall) and seventh among Power Five running backs nationally, while his six scores were third in the Big Ten and tied for fifth nationally.
Philyor finished third on IU with 33 receptions for 335 yards (4th) and three scores (T-3rd). He was first among Big Ten true freshmen in catches and third in yardage.
Johnson made 18 tackles, 10 solo, in 10 games. He made one sack with 3.5 tackles for loss, including a career-high 1.5 against No. 4 Wisconsin.
