BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University men's soccer coaching staff was named the Men's Midwest Region Staff of the Year (SOY) for Division I Institutions, United Soccer Coaches announced on Tuesday.
The Hoosier staff of head coach Todd Yeagley, associate head coach Brian Maisonneuve, assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Kevin Robson and volunteer assistant coach Zac Brown earned the recognition as a result of a vote by other coaches in the Midwest region who are also members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services program. The Hoosier coaches will now be placed onto the National Staff of the Year ballot.
Under the guidance of the staff, the No. 2-seeded Hoosiers enter the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament on Friday with an overall record of 17-0-5 on the year. Indiana is the only undefeated team in the nation and is also the only squad to have never trailed at any point in a match during the year.
Entering Friday's match, the team ranks in the top-11 in the nation in an astounding 13 categories. Indiana leads the nation in save percentage (0.917), shutout percentage (0.773) and team goals against average (0.213). IU has also allowed just four goals on the year – the fewest in the country.
Offensively, the Hoosiers have scored 47 goals on the season and rank 10th in the nation in scoring offense at 2.14 goals per contest. IU is ranked second in the nation in shots per game (17.50) and shots on goal per game (7.86). Indiana is also fifth in the country in total goals and total assists (47).
The No. 2 Hoosiers will next host No. 7 Michigan State in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:00 p.m. ET at Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, Ind.
Tickets for Friday's match are $10 for adults and $5 for youth (18 & under) and can be purchased at IUHoosiers.com.
Indiana University students will get in free as IU Athletics will purchase their tickets for each round of the NCAA Tournament that the Hoosiers host. Students must show student ID at the ticket window to redeem free ticket.
