BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's tennis head coach Ramiro Azcui has announced the addition of five-star recruit Somer Henry (Franklin, Tenn.) who signed with Indiana on Wednesday.
Henry has received a five-star ranking the majority of her junior career and has been as high as No. 27 on TennisRecruiting.Net.
Henry led Brentwood High School to the TSSAA State Championships in her sophomore and junior seasons and is the three-time defending singles state champion. In May of 2018 she will go for her fourth state championship, something that has never been done in TSSAA history.

"We are excited to welcome Somer Henry to the Hoosier tennis family," IU head coach Ramiro Azcui said. "Somer comes to us as a five-time Tennessee state champion (three singles titles, two team titles) and will bring great athleticism and an infectious attitude to our team. Somer has won at every level, and plays her best tennis when the stakes are highest. We think Somer has a high ceiling, and we look forward to helping her achieve all her athletic and academic goals."
Henry has an overall high school record of 58-1.
Henry has earned five National USTA Sportsmanship Awards and earned the USTA Junior Leadership Award.
Henry is a multi-sport athlete as she has also competed in basketball, soccer and softball.
Henry is coached by Kristen Schlukebir, who is the sister of former IU player (late) Karie Schlukebir.
