THE COACHES
• Archie Miller is the 29th head coach in Indiana men's basketball history. The 39-year old native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, comes to IU after serving the previous six seasons as head coach at the University of Dayton, where he won Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championships in 2016 and 2017. He was Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2017. He guided the Flyers to a 139-63 record (69.8) and a 68-34 mark (66.7) in the Atlantic 10. He took Dayton to the NCAA Tournament each of the last four years with the Flyers advancing to the Elite Eight in the 2014 Tournament. UD was nationally ranked in 3 of Miller's 6 seasons (2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16).
• Steve Payne is in his seventh season of guiding the Tennessee Tech program. He is 98-104 with the Golden Eagles.
NEWS & NOTES
• The Hoosiers will play their final two non-conference games of the season at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. After taking on Tennessee Tech (Dec. 21), they will return from Christmas with a matchup against Youngstown State (Dec. 29). IU will resume Big Ten play at Wisconsin (Jan. 2) and at Minnesota (Jan. 6).
• Junior Juwan Morgan, who had a record 34-point, 11 rebound performance in helping IU to an 80-77 overtime win over Notre Dame in the Crossroads Classic on Saturday, has been named NCAA.com and NBC Sports.com National Player of the Week and Big Ten Player of the Week.
• He scored 14 straight points at the end of regulation and the beginning of overtime and made the go-ahead dunk with eight seconds left as IU rallied from a 13-point second half deficit, an eight-point disadvantage with 2:01 to go and a four-point Notre Dame lead with less than 2 minutes to go in overtime. His 34 points established a Crossroads Classic Record (Kelan Martin 28, vs. Indiana, 2016), was a career-high for the Waynesville, Mo. product, and his 11 boards tied his single-game best effort in three seasons. He broke that with 12 boards against Fort Wayne.
• In the month of December, Morgan leads the Big Ten in scoring at 20.8 points per game, is second in rebounding at 10.0 and fifth in field goal percentage at 62.1 percent.
• Senior Robert Johnson has averaged 18.5 points in his last two games. He had 20 against Notre Dame and 17 against Fort Wayne. Johnson is now in 39th place on the IU all-time scoring list with 1,129 points and sixth on the school's all-time list with 193 treys.
• Redshirt junior walk-on Zach McRoberts set a new Crossroads Classic record with seven offensive rebounds against Notre Dame, none bigger than his offensive rebound of a missed free throw in the final seconds and then the assist to Morgan for the game-winning layup. He followed that up with an IU career-best nine points against Fort Wayne.
• Fifth-year senior Collin Hartman had a career-high 12 rebounds against Fort Wayne.
