OPENING TIP
• The 118th season of Indiana basketball continues on Saturday when the Hoosiers travel to Louisville for the second of a three game series with the Cardinals. Last year, the two teams met in Indianapolis, with the Cardinals posting a 77-62 win in Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The two teams will meet again net year in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• IU holds a 10-8 lead in the series which began in 1921. U of L has won the last three meetings dating back to 2003. The Hoosiers will make their first appearance in the KFC Yum! Center and their first on the road against Louisville since 2003. IU's last win in Louisville came in 1959 (90-71).
THE COACHES
• Archie Miller is the 29th head coach in Indiana men's basketball history. The 39-year old native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, comes to IU after serving the previous six seasons as head coach at the University of Dayton, where he won Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championships in 2016 and 2017. He was Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2017. He guided the Flyers to a 139-63 record (69.8) and a 68-34 mark (66.7) in the Atlantic 10. He took Dayton to the NCAA Tournament each of the last four years with the Flyers advancing to the Elite Eight in the 2014 Tournament. UD was nationally ranked in three of Miller's six seasons (2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16).
• David Padgett is in his 1st season of guiding the Louisville program.

• The Cardinals will be the second ACC opponent the Hoosiers will have played this season. IU fell to #1 Duke, 91-81, in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Louisville lost 66-57 at Purdue in the same event and defeated Siena, 86-60 on Wednesday night.
• Junior Juwan Morgan has made the earliest of cases for All-Big Ten recognition. He is fifth in the league after 2 games in points/rebounds/assists per game at 29.0. The Missouri native had his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds against Iowa. He had a Big Ten career-high 24 points and added 8 rebounds at Michigan. His 9 field goals matched a career-high in that game.. In the last 5 games he is averaging 17.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots. He is shooting 65.3% from the field in that time frame.
• With 9 points against Iowa, senior Robert Johnson is now in 47th place on the IU all-time scoring list with 1,092 points. Darryl Thomas is 46th with 1,095 and Bob Leonard is 45th with 1,098.
• The Hoosiers have set a new standard for the program in valuing the basketball. Dating back to the start of the 1996-97 season, IU has not had a better three-game stretch when IU had played 3 straight games without double-digit turnovers for the first time in at least 22 seasons with 8 against Arkansas State and Eastern Michigan and 9 versus Duke. IU averaged 15.2 turnovers a season ago and had 49 in their first three games of the season. They have averaged 9.2 turnovers a game in the last 4 games after committing 11 against Michigan. IU had just 2 turnovers in the first half against Duke and in the second half at Michigan and just 3 in the second half against Iowa.
• Oft-injured senior Collin Hartman is a player who has impacted winning during his career with the Hoosiers. Since the 2014-15 season, the Hoosiers are 49-22 when he is healthy. They are 21-20 when his is not. He is a career 40.1% shooter from three-point range and is coming off a 13-point, 5-rebound, 2 assist effort at home against Iowa.

• Sophomore Curtis Jones has left the program and will transfer at the end of the fall semester. Jones averaged 3.0 points in 11.4 minutes per game this season.
• Graduate forward Collin Hartman is back for a fifth year. The Indianapolis Cathedral product suffered a left knee injury in a non-contact drill and underwent surgery and did not play during the 2016-17 season. Hartman started 24 games for the eventual Big Ten champions in 2016, averaging 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He broke his wrist in the Big Ten Tournament against Michigan, but played in all three of IU's games that year as the Hoosiers played in the Sweet Sixteen. He had 11 points in 16 minutes against Duke and had a career-high 8 rebounds against Michigan. He followed that up with a season-high 13 points against Iowa
• Senior guard Robert Johnson has been a starter for 96 of the 107 games he has been healthy to play since joining the team in 2014-15. He earned the team's third Gold Standard jersey. The newest member of IU's 1,000-point club is averaging 12.7 points per game. He is one of the top guard rebounders in the league at 4.4 per game. He had 7 against Iowa.
• Senior guard Josh Newkirk has started 41 career games and a year ago averaged 9.0 points and led the team with 108 assists. He had his best game this season with 17 points against Eastern Michigan, hitting on 5 of 6 3-pointers. He earned the team's 4th Gold Standard jersey.
• Junior forward Juwan Morgan has started 28 career games and leads the team in scoring (13.8), rebounds (6.3) and free throws made (39). He earned the team's second Gold Standard jersey.
• Sophomore forward De'Ron Davis is third on the team averaging 11.2 points. He had 14 points in the opener and notched career-high's in points (17), blocks (3) and minutes played (29) against Howard. He had 16 points against Duke and has made 10 of his last 11 shots. • Sophomore guard Devonte Green is contributing 8.3 points. He energized the team off the bench with 12 points and 4 assists against Iowa. He was the first player to earn the right to wear a gold jersey in practice. That is given to the player who has displayed a Gold Standard in his play.
• Freshman forward Justin Smith is averaging 4.7 points and averages 4.4rebounds per game. He had 16 points and 12 rebounds against Howard.
• Freshman guard Aljami Durham is averaging 7.9 points. He had 9 points, 5 boards and 4 assists against South Florida. He has 19 assists to 5 turnovers in 233 minutes of play.
