Appel, Schmider Ranked No. 19 in Doubles

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Sophomore Madison Appel and senior Kim Schmider are ranked No. 19 in doubles as Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Women's National Team Rankings and Singles/Doubles rankings on Tuesday.
Appel and Schmider, who were unranked in the rankings released on Feb. 8 beat two ranked opponents over the weekend.
The duo beat No. 32 Brooke Broda and Monica Robinson from Notre Dame, 6-3, on Saturday Feb. 18 and came back on Sunday against Kentucky to beat No. 1 Aldila Sutjiadi and Mami Adachi, 6-4.
Appel and Schmider have combined to go 21-2 in doubles on the season, including a perfect 5-0 mark in dual match play.
"Madison and Kim are working really well together right now," IU head coach Ramiro Azcui said. "I'm really proud of the way they are competing and I look forward to see them continue to progress as the season goes along."
Up next the Hoosiers host DePaul and IUPUI on Saturday Feb. 25 at the IU Tennis Center.
