Meet the Hoosiers: Anna McCoy

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Freshman Anna McCoy didn't have to go far to attend college.
McCoy, a native of Bloomington, Ind., started out as a distance runner that went to tennis matches to watch her brother Matthew (currently a senior on the IU men's tennis team) play.
With a great work ethic and persistence, McCoy continued to improve and as a senior on the Bloomington North high school team earned an individual sectional championship.
Name: Anna McCoy
Hometown: Bloomington, IN
Year in school: Freshman
Parents: Doug and Kathy McCoy
Siblings: Caitlin and Matthew McCoy
Major: Business with a minor in Fine Art
On the court
The best part about being an IU student-athlete is: the resources- Academic center, training tables, clothes, tutoring, etc.
What I like most about the coaching staff is: They're a unit. They work well together!
I'm most looking forward to: improving my game this season.
My pre-match superstitions: I have to go on a run, eat a banana and a protein bar, and go to the bathroom as soon as I'm about to go on the court.
My most memorable moment as a tennis player: Moving onto Semi-State with my high school team and watching our doubles team compete at State.
This season will be a success if: We practice and play every day with a positive attitude and the willingness to give 100 percent of our effort.
Off the court
I first started playing tennis when I was: A sophomore in high school
My favorite activity outside of tennis is: Art (painting, drawing, etc.).
My most prized possession is: My 1993 Landcruiser.
My favorite game to play when I was in elementary school: Knockout (type of basketball game).
The one talent I wish I had: I wish I could tan instead of burn
Favorite food: Chocolate Milk (if that counts).
If I didn't play tennis I would play: basketball or cross country.
My dream job is: running my own business.
One unique thing about me: I love crime novels.
The best movie I saw this summer was: The Usual Suspects.
Last concert I went to/favorite musical group or artist: The Head and The Heart.
