Shoe Collection and RecycleMania Takes Place Saturday at Men’s Basketball Game
2/23/2017 1:04:00 PM | General, Sustainability
The Shoe Recycling Project collections will be located at the entrances of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday. The shoes collected will be sent to Soles4Souls for reuse or recycling. All shoes are welcome to be donated, not matter kind of condition. Anyone who donates shoes will receive a small thank you item for giving to the effort. Soles4Souls creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world.
Saturday will also be when IU takes part in the RecycleMania GameDay Basketball competition against other schools throughout the country. The promotion compares schools based on recycling and waste minimization efforts made during a single home game. Greening Cream and Crimson will have tables set up in both the North and South lobbies of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall at Saturday's game with more information.
A solar phone charger will be given away to a lucky fan who shares photos with @OurIndiana taking part in any of the following activities:
• Participating in the Greening Cream & Crimson activities
• Photo with the Greening Cream & Crimson big head or sign
• Bringing your own water bottle (empty of course!) and/or filling your water bottle with water from the fountain
• Placing your recyclable materials in the RECYCLING bin
• Taking the stairs/ramps instead of the escalator/elevator
• Taking your waste from your seat to the bins or handing it to a volunteer (instead of leaving in on the floor)
