SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Two school records were established, and five sprinters advanced to the semi-finals on day one of the Meyo Invitational.
The women's distance medley relay (DMR) team consisting of Brenna Calder, Taylor Williams, Olivia Hippensteel and Katherine Receveur broke the school record by nearly three seconds. The team edged out Michigan to win with a time of 11:06.15, besting the previous record of 11:09.04. Their time is currently the third fastest in the nation and is the fastest time of any Big Ten school this season. Calder ran a 3:25.7 split in the leadoff 1,200m leg, Williams followed with a 400m split of 55.1, Hippensteel carried her 800m split at a mark of 2:06.2 and Receveur crossed the finish line with a 1,600m split of 4:38.9.
Another week, another victory for Andrew Miller in the weight throw. He won tonight with a school record throw of 21.22m (69-7.5). Teammate Brittany King will join her after finishing with a time of 7.64. On the men's side, Tyler Bellaire claimed a spot in the men's semis with an 18th place finish and time of 6.91.
