COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Indiana Hoosier track and field team closed out the indoor portion of the schedule at the NCAA Championships at the Gilliam Indoor Facility on the campus of Texas A&M University. The men's team finished 29th in the team standings with seven points. The women's team tied for 47th with three points. Both teams capped off tremendous indoor seasons and will look to continue the program's momentum into the outdoor season.
Katherine Receveur finished sixth in the 3,000m run with a time of 9:12.61 to earn her second All-America honor of her career. After notching All-America distinctions in cross country, Receveur becomes the first women's 3k runner to finish in the top eight of the NCAA Championships meet since Amy Legacki took fifth during the 1992 campaign.
Daniel Kuhn, a two-time indoor All-American, crossed the finish line in seventh place in the 800m run with a time of 1:48.72. After a protest disqualified one of the other runners, Kuhn slid into sixth place, the highest finish for an Indiana runner in the event at NCAA Indoor Championships since Keith Allen took third in 1988. Kuhn ran as a member of the distance medley relay team last night that finished fifth and earned All-America honors.
In his NCAA Championships debut Eric Bethea finished 14th in the triple jump. The Big Ten champion ended his season with a leap of 15.32m (50-3.25). His finish brings him Second-Team All-America distinctions.
The Hoosiers will have an off weekend of competition before heading into the outdoor section of the season. IU will open the outdoor season in Tempe, Arizona for the Big Ten v. Pac-12 Challenge on the campus of Arizona State University.
