
Goodin Earns Second Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – For the second time in three weeks, Indiana pitcher Emily Goodin has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
The Evansville, Ind. native went 3-0 on the weekend, tossing 15.1 scoreless innings. The righty surrendered just two total hits and five walks while striking out 21 batters. As a team, the Hoosiers posted a perfect 5-0 weekend, the first five-win weekend for Indiana since 2013.
Against Western Illinois on Friday, Goodin picked up her third complete game of her career and her second shutout as the Hoosiers defeated the Fighting Leathernecks in eight innings, 1-0. Goodin was near perfect in the outing, surrendering just one hit while walking no batters and striking out eight.
In Friday's second game, she pitched 3.0 hitless innings in relief to earn the victory against Lipscomb. Her second relief appearance came on Saturday against Oakland. Goodin went 4.1 innings, allowing just one hit and three walks while picking up a career-high 10 strikeouts.
For the season, Goodin leads the team with a 3.16 ERA and a 7-4 record in 17 appearances. She was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Feb. 27.
The Hoosiers open up play at Andy Mohr Field this weekend in the Hoosier Classic.
