BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Just two days after taking home a couple of All-America honors, Daniel Kuhn was named USA Track and Field Athlete of the Month for the month of February.  Kuhn earned Big Ten Athlete of the Week on two occasions this season.
Kuhn had a tremendous month, which began with a historic meet at the Meyo Invitational. He eclipsed his own school record in the 800m run with a winning time of 1:46.42. Entering the NCAA Championships that mark was the fourth fastest time in the country.
After an off weekend, Kuhn was back on the track for the Alex Wilson Invitational to run in the distance medley relay (DMR). He split under 1:47 to help the Hoosiers claim the top spot in the race. IU's team ran the nation's quickest time of 9:28.14, the second fastest time in school history.
The month concluded with a pair of Big Ten Championships at the conference meet in Geneva, Ohio. On day one he ran the 800m leg of the DMR, putting the Hoosiers in the lead, a lead that they would not relinquish. The following day, the junior won the 600m run for the second consecutive season. His time of 1:15.23 was the fourth fastest time ever run in the event, shattering his previous school record.
This past weekend, Daniel earned All-America distinctions in the DMR with a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championships. He went on to place sixth in the 800m run, securing his second All-America honor of the weekend.
Kuhn and the rest of the Indiana University track and field team will be back in action in a couple of weeks at the Big Ten v. Pac-12 Challenge in Tempe, Arizona.
