IU Women’s Golf Heads To Clover Cup Friday Through Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Golf will get back to action on Friday when it takes part in the Clover Cup at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Notre Dame, will begin at 10 a.m. ET each day.

Playing in threesomes, the 15-team field will play 18 holes each day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) with tee-times starting at 10 a.m. ET (8 a.m. local time). Tee times on days one and two will begin the tournament and a shotgun start help conclude the final round.

LAST TIME AROUND
- Senior Ana Sanjuan started off the Hoosiers campaign with a sixth-place finish at the Westbrook Invitational on Feb. 26-27. She shot 2-under in the event (214) and posted a low of 69 in the second round. It marked the second-highest finish of her career and fourth top 10 finish for Sanjuan.
- Freshman Elisa Pierre followed up Sanjuan at the Westbrook Invitational with a tied for 35th place finish as she went even par in round two for a 225 total (+9).
- IU will be familiar with Longbow Golf Course when it hits the links on Friday afternoon, having played a practice round during its last trip to Arizona for the Westbrook Invitational. The Hoosiers arrived a day early to practice on the course and also took two training trips this winter to Arizona in prep for the 2016-17 season.
- Redshirt freshman Carolina Garrett will get her first appearance in the lineup for the Hoosiers this weekend, having redshirted last season. She has played in two tournaments for IU this season, both times appearing as an individual at the Cardinal Classic and Mary Fossum Invtiational.
- Head coach Clint Wallman is in his 13th season at the helm of the program.
- IU is coming off a fall season where they posted two top 10 team finishes at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic (7th) and Mary Fossum Invitational (3rd). They also posted one of its best single round finishes with a 283 (-5) at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Oct. 23. It ranks as the third best single round performance in school history.
- Senior Ana Sanjuan led Indiana in the fall season, playing in all 11 rounds for a 72.7 average. She posted a top-10 finish when she came in seventh overall at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic (217, +1).
- Freshman Elisa Pierre also played in all 11 rounds as she enters the fall with a 75.3 average from the fall season. She posted her best three-round finish at the Powerade Cougar Classic where she shot 224 (+8).
- During the winter break, Indiana signed two for the upcoming 2017-18 season in Mary Parsons (Delta, BC, Canada) and Wint Phoo Aung (Yangon, Myanmar).
UP NEXT
The Hoosiers head to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa on April 2-4.
