PHOENIX, Arizona – In Saturday's final round of the Grand Canyon Invitational, the Indiana men's golf team carded a team score of 295 to finish in eighth place at the 14-team tournament with an overall score of 865.

The top individual performances for IU came from freshman Brock Ochsenreiter and redshirt sophomore Jack Sparrow, who both finished tied for 16th with a score of 2-under par (211).

It ties the best career finish for Ochsenreiter, who also tied for 16th at the Windon Memorial earlier this year while it is Sparrow's career-best finish as he competed as an individual and his score did not count towards the team score.

The started out strong for Ochsenreiter, as he played his first nine holes in 4-under par but ran into trouble on his back nine and finished with a score of 1-over par 72 to give him a 54- hole score of 211 (-2).

Coming off rounds of 69 and 67 on day one, Sparrow carded a 75 in the final round to match Ochsenreiter at 2-under par 211 and a tie for 16th.

Senior Andrew Havill logged par on his first 10 holes of the day, but played the final eight holes in 4-over par for a final round score of 75 to finish the tournament at 4-over par with a score of 217 and a tie for 30th.

Christian Fairbanks also closed the tournament with a 4-over round of 75, leaving him with a total score of 219 and a tie for 42nd at 6-over par.

Brendon Doyle closed with a 77 on Saturday and tied for 59th individually at nine over par while Jake Brown was tied for 63rd after his final round 73 put him at 10-over par.

Joining Sparrow in competing as individuals were Trevor Ranton, Keegan Vea and Will Seger. It was Ranton whose round of 77 put him in a tie for 79th at 14-over par while Vea and Seger tied for 85th and 92nd, respectively.

The Hoosiers next tournament will be at the IU Championship Golf Course for the Hoosier Invitational on April 1-2.
