Senior Austin Cangelosi, who drove in two runs in the 11th, finished with a career-high four hits, to go along with three RBI and a stolen base. Senior Alex Krupa continued his hot-streak, tallying another multiple hit game as he went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Junior Logan Sowers and sophomores Luke Miller and Ryan Fineman each tallied two hits and one RBI apiece.
Senior Brian Hobbie tossed his second consecutive quality start, going six innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four. Sophomore Matt Lloyd picked up his second career win, as he worked the final three innings of the game. Senior Luke Stephenson and junior Austin Foote combined for 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
With one out in the second, Sowers singled up the middle and then advanced to third on Cangelosi's base-hit. A sacrifice fly by senior Tony Butler gave Indiana a 1-0 edge early. Hawaii answered back in the bottom half with an RBI double to knot the game up at one.
Krupa's hot hitting continued in the third, as he led off with a triple to right field. Freshman Matt Gorski followed that up with an RBI single to left to allow Indiana to regain the lead. After Gorski advanced to second, he stole third and scored on Fineman's RBI single. The Hoosiers had a 3-1 lead.
Miller found his way on base with a one-out single in the fifth. Then with two outs, Sowers delivered an RBI double down the right field line to make it a three-score game. Cangelosi followed with an RBI single to score Sowers to make it 5-1. Hobbie fed off the momentum by striking out the side in the bottom of the frame.
Hawaii's Eric Ramirez knocked a two-run home run to centerfield in the bottom of the sixth to trim Indiana's lead to 5-3.
Stephenson inherited a runner at second base with two outs in the seventh and forced a pop up. Then in the eighth, two were on with one out. The senior captain escaped the jam with a strikeout and a groundout.
Hawaii used a one-out, two-run single from Dylan Vchulek in the bottom of the ninth to the game up at five.
Dedelow's difference-making home run came with one out in the 11th, drilling it off the scoreboard in right centerfield. Cangelosi later in the inning tallied his fourth hit of the game, a two-run triple, to make it an 8-5 Hoosier lead.
Indiana and Hawaii square off in the final game of the four-game series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. ET.
