BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball collected a pair of shutout victories in Sunday's final day of the Hoosier Classic, defeating UIC, 4-0, before earning a 1-0 win against Bowling Green.

The two victories move the Hoosiers to 14-14 on the year and 3-1 on the weekend as Indiana has now won eight of its last nine games.

Indiana 4, UIC 0
In the day's opener, the Hoosiers were led by a two-hitter from sophomore Tara Trainer as she earned her sixth win of the season. The Lebanon, Ohio native went all seven innings, striking out 10 while surrendering just three walks.

The Hoosier bats were led by yet another multi-hit performance from freshman Gabbi Jenkins, who turned in her sixth game of the season with at least two hits. Senior Kayla Mathewson also had a big day for the Hoosiers, bringing in a pair of runs on a double in the fifth.

Junior Taylor Uden, who collected eight hits during the course of the weekend, including two homers and two doubles, put Indiana up 1-0 in the first as she doubled to left to plate Jenkins. Two batters later, an RBI groundout by freshman Bella Norton made it 2-0 as she brought junior Rebecca Blitz home.

Trainer retired seven of the first eight UIC batters she faced until a single to first base by Lexi Watts in the third inning. Watts collected both UIC hits in the game and was the only runner to reach scoring position, doing so in the third and sixth innings. However, each time she was left stranded by Trainer and the Hoosier defense.

Mathewson tacked on two more insurance runs for Indiana in the fifth, doubling to left center to score junior Rachel O'Malley and Uden.

Indiana 1, Bowling Green 0
A single run in the second inning proved to be enough for Indiana against Bowling Green as the Hoosiers earned their seventh shutout of the year.

Jenkins delivered the game-winner as she sent a two-out chopper up the middle to score junior Shayna Gamm. Gamm and freshman Katie Lacefield started the rally for Indiana as they collected back-to-back singles.

Dating back to Indiana's March 10 win against Lipscomb, Jenkins has now picked up at least one hit in eight consecutive games and is now third on the team in base knocks with 23 on the year.

Freshman Emily Goodin took home the win in the circle as she went 4.1 innings before Trainer stepped in to earn her first save of the season. Trainer struck out six batters and allowed just two hits in 2.2 innings of work.

The Indiana pitching staff had help from the defense, notably a head's up play on a foul ball in the fourth. After Jenkins made a snag against the left field wall on Chelsea Raker's fly ball in foul territory, Jenkins tossed the ball to the infield, who connected to double up Aspen Searle at second base. Bowling Green did not see a single runner advance past second base in the game.

This weekend's Hoosier Classic marked the final in a streak of six-straight tournaments as Indiana now turns to conference action. IU will host Rutgers next weekend at Andy Mohr Field to begin Big Ten play.
