
Tyra Buss Named WBCA All-Region

ATLANTA – Indiana Women's Basketball junior guard Tyra Buss has been selected to the WBCA All-Region 4 team, announced by the organization on Thursday. Buss is now one of 52 players up for Coaches' All-American honors, which will be narrowed down to a team of 10 during the Women's Final Four.
The repeat All-Big Ten First Team selection averages 18.4 points, 4.7 assists, 2.4 steals and 3.2 rebounds per game as she has helped guide Indiana to a single season record of 22 wins. She has scored in double figures in 31 of 32 games this season, setting a new career-high 38 points against North Carolina State, which ranks as tied for the fourth-most in a single game. She scored 35 points in a win over Florida and also scored 20 or more points in a game nine times this season. In addition, Buss can become the first player to ever record back-to-back 600 point seasons, as she sits with 590 total points heading into Thursday's WNIT game.
She has also notched two double-doubles and set new career-highs in assists, steals, 3-pointers made and free throws made. Currently, Buss ranks ninth in all-time scoring (1,572), second in free throws made (453), fourth in assists (393) fourth in free throw attempts (594) and fifth in steals (212).
She became the fastest player to score 1,000 points this season and set a new school record with 59 consecutive games in double figure scoring. In addition, she was a Naismith Preseason Top 50 watch list candidate and was one of 35 players eligible for the Wade Trophy. She was also named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll this season.
Buss and the Hoosiers are back in action at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall tonight when it hosts SMU in the third round of the WNIT. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and will be live on BTN Plus.
