
Baseball Falls to Indiana State, 7-3

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana baseball (14-9-1) snapped its five-game winning streak with a 7-3 loss to the Indiana State Sycamores on Wednesday night at Bart Kaufman Field.
Senior Craig Dedelow homered and scored two runs for the Hoosiers. Sophomore Luke Miller knocked his fourth home run of the season while collecting two hits.
Freshman Andrew Saalfrank started and pitched an inning, allowing one hit and a run, none earned. Junior Austin Foote, freshman Brad Littleton, and junior B.J. Sabol pitched scoreless outings. Indiana pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts.
The Sycamores struck first in the top of the first, but the Hoosiers quickly tied it up in the bottom half. On a 0-1 count, Dedelow launched a ball over the right field wall to tie the game at 1-1. Dedelow's sixth home run of the season leads the Hoosiers.
Things turned for the Hoosiers in the second as the Sycamores plated four runs. Indiana State used small ball to get their runs across as they runners crossed the plate on a sacrifice bunt, sacrifice fly and two singles.
Indiana State was back in the fourth with two runs, extending its lead to 7-1. This time, it was two doubles to left field that scored Sycamores.
Down six runs in the ninth, Indiana attempted to rally with a two-run home run. Dedelow led the inning off with a walk and scored his second run of the game when Miller hit a tape-measure shot to left field, cutting the Hoosiers deficit to 7-3.
Indiana continues its home-stand with Big Ten play when it hosts a three-game set against Nebraska at 7:05 p.m. ET on Friday from Bart Kaufman Field. The game will be televised nationally on the Big Ten Network.
