
Hoosiers Rally to Beat Purdue, 4-3

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 37 Indiana men's tennis team beat the Purdue Boilermakers, 4-3 on Sunday in the IU Tennis Center. The Hoosiers used strong singles to win their ninth match of the season.
The Boilermakers raced to a 2-0 match lead after winning the doubles point and a singles match at the two spot.
IU never wavered as they stormed back with wins at one, three, five, and six singles. Senior Matthew McCoy got the ball rolling with a 6-4, 6-2 win at the three spot. A second set tiebreak at the five spot ended with sophomore Oliver Sec victorious. No. 125 Antonio Cembellin held down the top singles spot with a 6-4, 7-5 win.
With a 3-2 match lead for IU, all eyes were on the courts with freshmen Zac Brodney and Bennett Crane. At the six spot, Brodney came away with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 win to give Indiana the win.
The Hoosiers will have time off before they travel to San Diego for a match against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Thursday, March 16. Indiana will be back home on Sunday March 26, when they host the Northwestern Wildcats and Detroit Titans.
