Three Career-Best Rounds Pace Indiana On Day One of Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – For the Indiana men's golf team, it was a tale of two rounds on Saturday at the Hoosier Invitational at the IU Golf Course. In round one, the Hoosiers posted a team score of 282 (-2) and were in third place just four shots behind the leaders.

But a second round score of 293 moved them down to fourth place, but they are now 19 shots behind tournament leader Charlotte heading into Sunday's final round. The Hoosiers are 7-over par as a team with a score of 575.

The highlight of round one came from freshman Brock Ochsenreiter, who matched his season-best round with a 4-under 67. His round featured four birdies and zero bogeys, as he capped his 3-under front nine with birdies on holes eight and nine. Round two was not as kind to the freshman, as he closed with a 76 and is tied for 17th at 1-over par for the tournament.

Redshirt sophomore Jake Brown is also tied for 17th at 1-over par after rounds of 72 and 71 on Saturday. Senior Andrew Havill is one shot behind him at 2-over par and in a tie for 22nd.

Jack Sparrow carded back-to-back rounds of 2-over par 73 and is 4-over and finds himself tied for 37th. Rounding out the team lineup is Brendon Doyle, who used rounds of 72 and 79 to sit in a tie for 58th at 9-over par.

Indiana has four students competing as individuals and they are led by Christian Fairbanks, who joins Havill at 2-over par and a tie for 22nd after posting a career-best round of 69 in the first round then following it up with a 75 in round two.

Sophomore Trevor Ranton trimmed three shots of his career-best round with a 69 in his opening round and then logged a 76 in round two to finish at 3-over through 36 holes and a tie for 30th.

Senior Keegan Vea used consistency to also tie for 30th at 3-over par with scores of 73 and 72 while Will Seger is in 78th place following scores of 83 and 76 on Saturday.
