Hoosiers Tied For Ninth After 36 Holes at Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana – In blustery conditions at the Kampen Course on the campus of Purdue University, the Indiana men's golf team put together two solid rounds from top to bottom in the order and are tied for ninth out of 15 teams at the Boilermaker Invitational.

Indiana opened with a team score of 300 to sit in seventh place after round one before posting a 305 in round two.

Freshman Brock Ochsenreiter paced the Indiana contingent, firing back-to-back rounds of 2-over par 74 on Saturday and is tied for 17th on the individual leaderboard. He carded two birdies and three bogeys in his first round and then added three more birdies in his second round.

Senior Andrew Havill joins Ochsenreiter in the top 25 after logging rounds of 74 and 76 on Saturday to tie for 25th. In round one, he was 1-over on both the front and the back but got off to a rough start on the back nine in round two. After playing the back nine in 5-over par, he rallied to play the front nine in 1-under par on his way to a 76.

Redshirt sophomore Jake Brown was also consistent in his two rounds, posting a score of 4-over par 76 in both rounds to tie for 38th at 8-over par for the tournament.

Christian Fairbanks opened with a 76 and followed it up with a 79 in round two and is tied for 57th at 11-over par through 36 holes.

Jack Sparrow also opened with a 76 in round one and settled for an 80 in round two, giving him a score of 156 (+12) and a tie for 60th.

Also competing, but playing as an individual only, is Trevor Ranton. He registered scores of 83 and 82 for a total score of 165.
