Harper In Second, Hoosiers In Eighth After Day One of Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Erin Harper shot 3-under for the day as she sits in second place overall to lead Indiana on day one of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational on Saturday at Scarlet Course.
The Dublin, Ohio native shot under in both rounds, carding a 71 in the opening 18 holes before finishing the day with a 70. Harper led Indiana with eight birdies on the day and sits just one stroke behind leader Sophia Schubert from Texas.
Senior Ana Sanjuan came in next for IU, finishing in a tie for 27th with a 75 and 77 (152) while redshirt freshman Carolina Garrett added a 159 (81, 78) in a tie for 48th. Senior Theresa Ann Jedra was just one stroke behind that in a tie for 52nd.
Junior Alix Kong is in 58th after scoring an 82 and 79 to finish one behind Jedra with a 161 while freshman Emma Fisher rounded out the lineup in a tie for 61st (163) with an 80 and 83.
As a team, Indiana finished with a pair of 304 rounds to sit in eighth place overall with a 36-hole score of 608. They are six strokes behind seventh place Penn State and eight behind sixth place Michigan. Texas leads the field (589), while Michigan State, Illinois and Kent State round out the top four.
The final round of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational gets underway at 8:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start.
