
Tyra Buss Named WBCA All-American Honorable Mention

ATLANTA – Junior guard Tyra Buss has been named a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American Honorable Mention, announced by the organization at the Women's Final Four in Dallas.
It marks the first All-American honor for Buss and the first ever WBCA All-American honor for the Hoosiers. She becomes the fifth player in school history to earn All-American distinctions, with the last coming in 1986 by Karna Abram and Cindy Bumgarner.
The repeat All-Big Ten First Team selection averages 18.4 points, 4.7 assists, 2.4 steals and 3.2 rebounds per game as she has helped guide Indiana to a single season record of 23 wins and a WNIT quarterfinal appearance. She has scored in double figures in 32 of 34 games this season, setting a new career-high 38 points against North Carolina State, which ranks as tied for the fourth-most in a single game. She scored 35 points in a win over Florida and also scored 20 or more points in a game nine times this season. In addition, Buss became the first player in school history to record back-to-back 600 point seasons as she tallied 619 points and sits with 1,601 career points and is on pace to break the all-time scoring record.
She has also notched two double-doubles and set new career-highs in assists, steals, 3-pointers made and free throws made. Currently, Buss ranks eighth in all-time scoring (1,601), second in free throws made (453), tied for third in assists (400) fourth in free throw attempts (594) and fifth in steals (216).
She became the fastest player to score 1,000 points this season and set a new school record with 59 consecutive games in double figure scoring. In addition, she was a Naismith Preseason Top 50 watch list candidate and was one of 35 players eligible for the Wade Trophy. She was also named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll this season.
