Indiana Improves On Day Two Of Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships

MAINEVILLE, Ohio – Indiana shaved ten strokes off its day one total and moved up two spots on day two of the Big Ten Championships at TPC River's Bend.

They were led by a pair of 75's on a chilly, windy day from sophomore Erin Harper and junior Alix Kong as IU sits in 12^th overall with a 308 after 36 holes of the tournament. Harper leads the Hoosiers in the tournament, shooting 8-over par for the tournament (152) and in a tie for 21^st overall. She completed the day with two birdies and 12 pars.

Kong improved six strokes in the second round and sits four strokes back of Harper (156) heading into tomorrow's final round as she is in a tie for 40^th. Redshirt freshman Carolina Garrett turned in the next best round and showed off the most dramatic improvement of the day as she finished 6-over par 78. She took off nine strokes from the opening round as she led IU on the day with four birdies and moved up to 78^th overall.

Freshman Elisa Pierre added an 80 and sits in 77^th overall (165) while seniors Ana Sanjuan and Theresa-Ann Jedra are tied for 70^th with a pair of 83's on the day and a 163 total after 36 holes.

As a team, IU is in 12^th overall with a 626 combined two-round score, which is just three strokes behind 11^th place Iowa and nine behind 10^th place Maryland. Northwestern is the field's leader followed by Michigan State and Wisconsin to round out the top three.

The third and final round of the Big Ten Championships gets underway tomorrow with tee times off hole #10 beginning at 8:27 a.m. ET.
