Hoosiers Drop Finale to No. 13 Michigan, 12-5

Sophomore Luke Miller and junior Logan Sowers combined for four RBI, with Miller accounting for three RBI and two hits, including his eighth home run. Sowers stroked an RBI double as part of a two-hit day. Senior Tony Butler also chipped in an RBI in the effort.
Sophomore Pauly Milto (3-3) went five innings in the loss. He mixed six hits and six runs along with two strikeouts. Sophomore Tim Herrin and freshman Andrew Saalfrank combined for 1.1 scoreless innings.
After quickly falling behind 4-0 in the bottom of the first, Indiana chipped away for three runs in the third inning to bring the game within one run, 4-3. A leadoff single by freshman Jeremy Houston and free pass to junior Laren Eustace put the first two Hoosiers on. The Wolverines turned two quick outs before Miller's RBI double down the right field line brought home both runners. Sowers then followed with a single back up the middle, which was able to bring Miller around.
A solo home run by Johnny Slater in the sixth brought Michigan's lead back to two runs. From there, the Wolverines used four more hits to piece together four runs and take a 9-3 lead.
With one away in the eighth, Miller turned on a 1-2 count for a solo home run to left center field, bringing Indiana's deficit to 9-4.
Michigan added three final runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 12-4.
Freshman Jake Matheny led off the ninth with a single through the left side and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Junior Colby Stratten pinch hit with a single, which moved Matheny to third. He came around to score on Butler's sacrifice fly.
Indiana next heads to Victory Field in Indianapolis on Tuesday evening with first pitch against the Ball State Cardinals set for 7 p.m.
