Indiana Women’s Basketball Announces Addition of Ali Patberg

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Basketball has announced the addition of Ali Patberg to the roster. Patberg, a native of Columbus, Ind., joins the Hoosiers after spending the last two seasons at Notre Dame. She will have two years of eligibility beginning in 2018-19.
"We are thrilled that Ali has chosen to continue her academic and athletic career at Indiana University," head coach Teri Moren said. "As one of the most decorated players to come out of the state of Indiana, she will be a great addition to our roster. She comes from a great basketball family and we are looking forward to having them all join the IU Women's Basketball program."
Patberg, a 5-10 guard, played in 22 games for the Fighting Irish last season, averaging 7.7 minutes per game. She scored a season-high six points against North Carolina and dished out a season-high three assists against Central Michigan. She was sidelined in her freshman season (2015-16) with an ACL injury.
She becomes the second Indiana Miss Basketball to play at Indiana, joining Lori Meinerding (1987-91) and the first ever McDonalds All-American to join the program.
A star at Columbus North, Patberg was a five-star recruit by espnW/Hoopgurlz and ranked the No. 14 prospect in the nation out of high school as well as the No. 1 point guard in the nation in her class. She earned a slew of awards as a senior (2014-15) including Indiana Miss Basketball, McDonalds All-American, MaxPreps National High School Player of the Year, Parade Magazine All-American and Gatorade Indiana High School Player of the Year to name a few.
She also earned USA Today All-USA Second Team, Naismith Trophy third-team All-American and USA Today All-USA Indiana Player of the Year honors as she led Columbus North to a 28-1 record and its first ever appearance in the Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A state championship.
Patberg's Columbus North team finished 99-9 (.917) during her four-year career as she holds a career average of 18.9 points, 7.0 rebound, 5.0 assists and 2.6 steals and scored 2,026 points, which is 28th all-time in the state of Indiana. She holds 11 school records including career points, (534) and steals (273), and ranks among the top 10 on 24 of school's single-game, single-season or career record lists. As a senior, Patberg averaged 25.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 3.1 steals per game on a 53.6 field goal percentage.
The sophomore guard has also competed with Team USA, earning a gold medal with USA Basketball's U19 National Team at FIBA U19 World Championships in Chekhov, Russia. She appeared in all seven games for the U19 team, which went 7-0, and averaged 3.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. She also participated on the 2014 USA Basketball Under-18 National Team Trials.
