BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's team will open the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday as the No. 10 seed and take on No. 7 Iowa at 3:00 p.m. ET.
The tournament, which runs through Sunday is being hosted by Illinois in Urbana, Ill., at the Atkins Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers (13-13, 4-7) matched up with Iowa in their first match of Big Ten play back on March 11 in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes won 6-1 on that day, but IU head coach Ramiro Azcui said he thinks his team will be ready for match.
"We have improved a lot since that match and I think our team will be focused on the task at hand," he said. "We are looking forward to this opportunity and hope to continue to build on how we finished the regular season last weekend."
There will be live scoring and video available on FightingIllini.com for the match against Iowa on Thursday.
The Hoosiers are coming off a 6-1 win on the road at Penn State to finish the regular season.
The Hoosiers top doubles team of Madison Appel and Kim Schmider come into the match with an overall record of 28-7 and were ranked No. 52 in the latest ITA/Oracle national rankings. Appel has an overall record of 16-14 at the No. 1 singles spot for the Hoosiers.
