Indiana Tied For Seventh After First Round of Big Ten Championship

BALTIMORE, Maryland – The Indiana men's golf team put together a very strong first round at the Baltimore Country Club – East Course, posting a score of 291 to tie for seventh place at the Big Ten Championship.
Redshirt sophomore Jake Brown paced IU with an even par round of 70 to tie for ninth individually. Brown began his day on No. 10 and registered a birdie and then followed with eight straight pars to go out in 34. On his second nine, he logged two bogeys, one birdie and six pars. His 14 pars in round one ranked as the third-most among all players on Friday.
Senior Andrew Havill and freshman Brock Ochsenreiter are part of the group tied for 28th at 3-over par after shooting 73 in round one. Havill had five bogeys and two birdies in his round while Ochsenreiter had four bogeys and one birdie.
Redshirt sophomore Jack Sparrow is tied for 42nd following his opening round score of 5-over par 75. And Christian Fairbanks got off to a rocky start on his first nine holes before getting back on track on his second nine to post a 77.
The Hoosiers will tee off of No. 1 on Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. with live scoring available at Golfstat.com.
