Five Hoosiers find multiple goals in first of three-game weekend
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 16 Indiana Hoosiers opened their home CWPA Championship weekend with a thriller in the quarterfinal round. Indiana (18-10) battled to the brink with No. 20 Harvard (15-12) in one of the closest games of the day but the Crimson topped the final tally, 12-11.

Indiana displayed a true team effort in the game on both ends of the pool. Five players scored twice, starting with doubles from Sarah Young and Jennifer Beadle in the first period. Mollie Williams and Sarah Myers kept it close in the second half while Kelly Matthews scored in the first and third periods.
The game featured a wild finish in the fourth period. Trailing 10-8 after 24 minutes, Myers scored her first goal of the game to put the Hoosiers within one. Myers again responded to a Harvard score with a power play goal a minute later. On Harvard's ensuing possession, Indiana broke up a pass and sent the ball down the left wing to Myers on a fast break. Myers placed a perfect pass to Joelle Nacouzi, who one-timed the feed into the back of the cage to tie the game at 11-11.
The Crimson pulled ahead with the decisive goal inside of the last three minutes on a power play opportunity. The Hoosiers held the line after that to keep the game within tying distance, but Matthews' final attempt at the buzzer hit the woodwork.

Although Indiana came short of the semifinals, their weekend continues with the placement playoff on Saturday afternoon. The day's second game at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center will pit the Hoosiers against eighth-seeded George Washington at 1:30 p.m. ET. Indiana won their last meeting, 16-11, at Hartwick College on the second CWPA weekend.
