Indiana plays for fifth-place in Sunday’s season closure
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana water polo team assembled an exciting second day of the CWPA Championship for the home fans at the Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center, picking up a 9-7 win over George Washington before taking a 16-6 victory over Saint Francis in the day's final game. With the wins, head coach Ryan Castle and the Hoosiers (20-10) completed the program's ninth consecutive season with at least 20 wins and their 18th 20-win season in the team's 20-year history.
Freshman goalkeeper Davis Simmons started in the cage and secured the first two victories of her career, posting a career-high 11 saves in the game against Saint Francis. Defender Kelly Matthews scored 5 goals between the two games, surpassing the 200-goal career milestone with her first conversion over Saint Francis.

The win over George Washington put the Hoosiers in a battle with Saint Francis for a spot in Sunday's fifth-place game. Thanks to a formidable effort at the start of each half, Indiana emerged with a decisive 16-6 victory.
