
Williams Scores 21 In First Game With Houston

PHOENIX - Former Indiana University men's basketball player Troy Williams made quite a first impression with his new team, the Houston Rockets on Sunday night. The Virginia native had 21 points, five assists and three rebounds in 38 minutes of play as the Rockets defeated Phoenix, 123-116.
He hit seven of 12 shots, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range.
Williams, who went undrafted following his junior year at Indiana, played 24 games earlier this season with the Memphis Grizzlies and averaged 5.9 points and 2.0 rebounds. He joins another former IU standout Eric Gordon on the Rockets roster.
Williams also had two stints in the NBA Development League playing for the Iowa Energy and Rio Valley Vipers. He won the 2017 D-League Slam Dunk contest in February. He played 10 games with the Vipers prior to joining the Rockets and averaged 19.8 points and 5.3 rebounds. He played 23 games for the Energy and averaged 12.8 points and 4.1 rebounds.
The All-Big Ten performer played for the Phoenix Suns in the 2016 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and averaged 12.3 points and 4.3 rebounds.
Williams played three seasons for the Hoosiers and helped the team to the 2016 Big Ten Championship when he averaged 13.3 points and 5.8 rebounds. He is 41st on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,115 points.
