
#IUTF Heads South for Tennessee Relays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University track and field team will head south to Knoxville, Tennessee to participate in the Tennessee Relays. IU will be one of 15 teams competing in the meet, including Big Ten foes Illinois, Ohio State and Rutgers.
The Atlantic Coast Conference will be represented by Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech. The Southeastern Conference will have three teams: Kentucky, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. The three remaining teams are Eastern Michigan, Middle Tennessee State and Southern Illinois.
The meet will begin on Thursday with the first day of multi events and the hammer throw. The men's decathlon will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. Andrew Huber will compete in the 100m dash, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m dash.
The hammer throw will begin at 4:00 p.m. with two flights of the women's competition. Nakel McClinton and Nycia Ford are both entered for the Hoosiers. The men's competition will follow the women's at approximately 6:30 p.m. and will feature Andrew Miller.
Day two will get off to an early start with the conclusion of the multi events. The decathlon will start at 10:00 a.m. with the 110m hurdles and will be followed by the discus, pole vault, javelin and the 1,500m.
Track events start at 2:45 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The Hoosiers will send a total of 13 runners to the startline of the men's and women's 1,500m run. Six IU athletes, headlined by Katherine Receveur and Brenna Calder, will run in the women's race. Matt Schwartzer will look to lead the pack of seven Indiana men competing.
Field events start at 3:00 p.m. with the men's and women's long jump. Willie Morrison and David Schall will both participate in the men's shot put, slated for a 7:00 p.m. start time.
Saturday's slate will begin in the field. The marquee events for Indiana will be the men's triple jump and the women's invitational pole vault. Eric Bethea will look to earn his second meet victory of the season in the triple jump. Sydney Clute, fresh off of shattering her school record, will be competing in the pole vault.
True to the name of the meet, Saturday's track slate will consist of several relay races, including: the distance medley relay, the sprint medley relay, the 4x100m relay, the 4x400m relay and the 4x800m relay.
