
Indiana Hosts Big Ten Double Dual

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – The 18th ranked Indiana Rowing team welcomes a trio of Big Ten crews to Lake Lemon this weekend for the Big Ten Double Dual starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Joining the Hoosiers this weekend will be No. 4 Ohio State, No. 13 Iowa and Rutgers. Indiana will race Ohio State in the morning session while Rutgers takes on Iowa. Then in the afternoon, the Hoosiers will compete against Rutgers and the Buckeyes will tangle with Iowa.

Scoring for Big Ten competition should be determined as follows:
18 points for winning 1V8 boat; 9 points for second-place 1V8 boat
12 points for winning 2V8 boat; 6 points for second-place 2V8 boat
6 points for winning 1V4 boat; 3 points for second-place 1V4 boat
4 points for winning 2V4 boat; 2 points for second-place 2V4 boat
4 points for winning 1N8 boat; 2 points for second-place 1N8 boat
2 points for winning 2N8 boat; 1 point for second-place 2N8 boat
2 points for winning 3V4 boat; 1 point for second-place 3V4 boat
The winner of the 1V8 boat shall serve as the tiebreaker.
IN THE POLLS THIS WEEK
In the CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll that was published on April 5, the Indiana Hoosiers are ranked No. 18 and are one of six Big Team teams in the poll this week.
Those six Big Ten teams in the rankings are Michigan (3), Ohio State (4), Wisconsin (11), Iowa (13), Michigan State (16) and Indiana (18).
UNPRECEDENTED SUCCESS FOR THE HOOSIERS
The Indiana Rowing program is in the midst of unprecedented success for the program, as they have made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Championship in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Those three appearances marked the first three appearances in the NCAA Championship in program history.
In 2014, the Hoosiers finished 11th as a team and were led by the ninth-place finish of the 1V4 while the 1V8 finished 10th and the 2V8 came in 14th.
In 2015, Indiana once against finished 11th as a team with the 1V8 leading the way with another 10th place finish while the 2V8 checked in with a 11th place finish and the 1V4 registered a 13th place finish.
Last year, Indiana finished 15th as a team with the 1V4 crew leading the way with a 12th place finish. The 2V8 crew finished fourth in the C final to take 14th place overall and the 1V8 earned a 16th place finish at the NCAA Championships.
