
Hoosiers Claim Two Event Victories on Final Day in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On the third and final day of the Tennessee Relays, the Hoosiers took home a pair of event victories. Today's action was dominated by a handful of relay events on the track and several field events off the track.
A pair of Hoosiers were named Tony Wilson Award Winners for the 2017 Tennessee Relays. Katherine Receveur was named Most Outstanding Women's Track Athlete and Sydney Clute earned Most Outstanding Women's Field Athlete of the meet.
The women's distance medley relay (DMR) team consisting of Katherine Receveur, Kendell Wiles, Kelsey Harris and Corinne Cominator took first with a time of 11:26.60. The men's DMR team finished third at 9:49.84. The team consisted of Kyle Mau, Markevious Roach, Jordan Huntoon and Bryce Millar.
In the invitational section of the pole vault, Sydney Clute took gold. She cleared 4.40m (14-5.25) to outlast the competition, which established the facility and meet record. She defeated former Hoosier athlete, and 2016 Olympic participant, Kelsie Ahbe. Ahbe finished second. Another former IU athlete, Sophie Gutermuth, finished fourth in the competition.
Treyton Harris took the second spot in the high jump with a clearance of 2.07m (6-9.5). He cleared the first height, 1.97m, with ease. He narrowly missed at 2.02m on his first attempt before clearing on his second jump. He made it over on his first attempt at 2.07m before failing to clear 2.12m. In the triple jump, Eric Bethea finished second with a mark of 15.66m (51-4.5).
The sprint medley relay (SMR) teams saw similar success to the DMR. The SMR is made up of two consecutive 200m legs, followed by a 400m carry and concludes with an 800m anchor. The women's team of Ari Nelson, Riley Egbula, Mackenzie Bollinger and Brenna Calder finished third with a mark of 3:56.29. The men's team of Anthony Bello, Dushawn Tunstall, Zach Reitzug and Adam Wallace places second with a time of 3:23.92.
The women's 4x800m relay team captured fourth place with a time of 8:49.89. Haley Harris led off the race before giving way to Maggie Allen. Receveur handled the third leg and Olivia Hippensteel was the team's anchor leg. The men's team of Jeremy Coughler, Joe Murphy, Kyle DuVall and Cooper Williams, finished fifth with a time of 7:34.42.
