Indiana Looks For Strong Finish at Big Ten Rowing Championship

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – The 16th ranked Indiana Rowing team will join the other seven Big Ten rowing programs at the Indianapolis Rowing Club in Eagle Creek Park on Sunday for the 2017 Big Ten Rowing Championships. The first race gets underway at 9:00 a.m. with a live video stream available on BTN2Go.com (subscription required).
Indiana is one six Big Ten programs that are ranked in this week's USRowing/CRCA Coaches Polls, joining Michigan (4), Ohio State (5), Wisconsin (10), Iowa (12) and Michigan State (19).

BIG TEN BOAT OF THE WEEK
The Big Ten Conference announced that Indiana's 1V8 crew has been named the Boat of the Week for the week ending April 30. The Hoosiers defeated Notre Dame, San Diego and No. 17 Duke at the Dale England Cup to win the award.
The last time Indiana claimed Big Ten Boat of the Week was April 14, 2015, when the 1V8 received the honor. Overall, it's the 10th time Indiana has won the weekly award since it was instituted in 2000.
The 1V8 posted a time of 6:35.60 to beat Notre Dame by nearly four seconds, San Diego by nearly eight seconds and Duke by nine seconds.
The boat included coxswain Emily Fekete, Emily Barber, Hanna Henry, Abigail Armstrong, Allison Spencer, Antonia Frappell, Emily Wasz, Christina Berchtold and Alexandra Eaton.
UNPRECEDENTED SUCCESS FOR THE HOOSIERS
The Indiana Rowing program is in the midst of unprecedented success for the program, as they have made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Championship in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Those three appearances marked the first three appearances in the NCAA Championship in program history.
In 2014, the Hoosiers finished 11th as a team and were led by the ninth-place finish of the 1V4 while the 1V8 finished 10th and the 2V8 came in 14th.
In 2015, Indiana once against finished 11th as a team with the 1V8 leading the way with another 10th place finish while the 2V8 checked in with a 11th place finish and the 1V4 registered a 13th place finish.
Last year, Indiana finished 15th as a team with the 1V4 crew leading the way with a 12th place finish. The 2V8 crew finished fourth in the C final to take 14th place overall and the 1V8 earned a 16th place finish at the NCAA Championships.
