
Indiana Faces Minnesota in Big Ten Tournament Opener on Wednesday

• Indiana opens up the 2017 Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington, Ind. on the campus of Indiana University.
• The No. 6 seeded Hoosiers will face the No. 3 seed Minnesota Golden Gophers on Wednesday. This will be the fourth matchup between the two squads in 2017, as IU earned the 2-1 series win earlier in the season at Bart Kaufman Field (4/14-16).
• This will mark the sixth ever matchup between Indiana and Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament. The Hoosiers hold a 3-2 series lead in tournament games, IU defeated the Golden Gophers twice in the 2009 tournament, including a 13-2 victory in the championship game.
• Indiana is 26-20 (.565) all-time in the Big Ten Tournament and has won the title four times (1996, 2009, 2013, 2014). IU's winning percentage in the tournament ranks fifth all-time in the Big Ten.
• Indiana will compete in the Big Ten Tournament for the 14th time, which ranks as the sixth-most appearances in the conference.
• Indiana owns two of the last four Big Ten Tournament championships. The Hoosiers have won 11 of their last 16 Big Ten Tournament games, including a four-game sweep of the 2014 postseason to win the title.
• IU played 18 games this season against Big Ten teams that qualified for the conference tournament, more than any other team participating in the field. The Hoosiers also have more wins against the field from the regular season, posting a 10-7-1 record.
• With Saturday's 4-3 victory over Ohio State, the Hoosiers have won their last six series, dating back to the Minnesota series in April. Those six series include Minnesota, at No. 13 Michigan, #15 Maryland, Xavier, Penn State and at Ohio State. Indiana also won six series in a row in 2016, taking series from Purdue, Iowa, at Michigan State, Northwestern, at Minnesota and Illinois.
• Since the start of the 2008 season, Indiana leads the Big Ten in wins (342) and conference wins (147). The Hoosiers have made four NCAA Regionals over that span, the most out of any current Big Ten team.
• Indiana is first in the Big Ten in home runs (63, T-30th nationally), third in slugging percentage (.432), tied for third in doubles (101), fifth in RBI (286), and sixth in runs (302) and hits (496),
