Minnesota Rallies to Defeat Indiana, 9-8

The Hoosiers got 12 hits on the night, highlighted by a 4-for-4 performance from sophomore Matt Lloyd, who homered, drove in three runs and scored twice. Senior Tony Butler had three hits in the game, while senior Craig Dedelow drove in two runs. Freshman Jeremy Houston homered and sophomore Ryan Fineman drove in a run.
On the mound, freshman Andrew Saalfrank allowed three hits over five innings in the no decision, striking out four.
The scoring got started in the top of the third for the Hoosiers. Two walks issued to Fineman and Houston, followed by an infield hit for Butler loaded the bases with no outs. Lloyd then hit a sacrifice fly to plate the game's first run. An RBI single by Miller and a sac fly by Dedelow made it a 3-0 game.
Indiana got two more runs in the top of the fifth. Butler led off with a double down the left field line and scored on an RBI single by Lloyd. With one out in the frame, Dedelow singled to plate Lloyd to make it a 5-0 game.
Houston drilled his second home run of the season in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to six runs.
The Golden Gophers cut into the Indiana lead in the bottom half of the sixth. Jordan Kozicky doubled to left, Terrin Vavra singled to right and Micah Coffey walked. All three runners eventually scored on a double and a single to make it a 6-4 game.
Lloyd knocked out his 11th home run of the season in the seventh and Fineman hit an RBI double in the eighth to extend the lead to four runs.
Minnesota plated the five runs to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth. The Golden Gophers got five consecutive hits to start the frame, which included the game-winning three-run home run from Eduardo Estrada.
Lloyd led off the top of the ninth and Miller walked to give runners at first and second. A double play on a fly ball put a runner on third with two outs, but the Hoosiers were unable to convert.
Indiana will await to hear its NCAA postseason status on Monday. The selection show will take place at noon on ESPN2.
