Indiana Rowing Has Seven Receive CRCA National Scholar-Athlete Accolades

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced their National Scholar-Athlete recipients on Wednesday and head coach Steve Peterson had seven members of the team recognized, the most since nine were recognized in 2012.
The seven honorees include Emily Barber, Alexandra Eaton, Mel Hampton, Hanna Henry, Emma Lawrie, Morgan McKay and Maddie Pierce. For Barber, it marks her third time receiving the award while Eaton is named for the second straight season.
In order to receive the honor, the student-athlete must:
• Meet all eligibility rules as defined by their institution
• Be in their second, third or fourth year of eligibility
• Row in their institutions' NCAA or IRA eligible boat for a minimum of 75% of the spring season or in a regional conference event.
• The head coach at the student-athlete's institution must be in good standing with the CRCA as of May 1, 2017
• Have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for their career through the fall semester of the current academic year.
