6/28/2017 10:30:00 AM | Women's Basketball
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Basketball will face Louisville at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on November 30 in the 2017-18 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, announced by the league offices today.
It will be the first meeting of the two teams in over a decade and the first time in the Challenge. The last meeting took place in 2005, where Louisville defeated Indiana 72-67 in Louisville on Dec. 4. The Hoosiers lead the all-time series, 7-3, as the home team has won every game in the series which dates back to 1972.
"This is a really intriguing matchup not only for our team but for our fan base as well," Head coach Teri Moren said. "Louisville is a really solid opponent who will really challenge our non-conference schedule, and prepare us for Big Ten play."
The Cardinals finished at No. 12 in the final poll of 2016-17 with an overall record of 29-8 last season as they advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. They posted an overall record of 12-4 overall in the ACC and are led by head coach Jeff Walz and return leading scorer Asia Durr (19.2 ppg., 3.4 rpg.) and leading rebounder Myisha Hines-Allen (13.9 ppg., 9.3 rpg.).
Indiana holds a 6-4 all-time record in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, including a 3-2 record with games played at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall with a most recent home win over Georgia Tech in the 2015-16 season. Last season, the ACC won the challenge, 9-5, as Indiana fell at North Carolina State.
Tip times and TV designations will be announced at a later date.
The remainder of Indiana's non-conference slate will be announced at a later date and will feature a total of 15 home games including seven non-conference and eight Big Ten games. Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
