BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team will travel to Los Angeles for the 2018 ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
Indiana will play Southern California on Friday Jan. 26, at 1:00 p.m. ET at the Marks Tennis Stadium on the campus of USC. The Hoosiers will play either UC Santa Barbara or SMU on Jan. 27 at 1:00 p.m. ET or 5:00 p.m. ET.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association conducted the 2018 ITA Division I Men's Kick-Off Weekend Draft on Thursday and the Hoosiers will be grouped with No. 6 USC, No. 37 UC Santa Barbara and No. 40 SMU. There are 15 groups of four that make up the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
The teams are ranked one-four in the group (1-USC, 2-UC Santa Barbara, 3-SMU and 4-Indiana). The No. 1 team in each site will face the No. 4 team. The No. 2 team will face the No. 3 team. Two matches are guaranteed - the winners/losers will play the following day. The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the Feb. 16-19, 2018 ITA National Team Indoor Championship hosted by the University of Washington.
It will be a homecoming of sorts for two players on the Indiana roster as rising sophomore Zac Brodney and incoming freshman Brandon Lam are both from the greater Los Angeles area.
This will be the first meeting between Indiana and USC.
