Indiana Men’s Golf Announces 2017-18 Schedule

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – Indiana men's golf head coach Mike Mayer announced the team's schedule for the 2017-18 season, which includes a mix of regular tournaments as well as new tournaments that span from Hawaii to Maryland.
Mayer, who is entering his 20th season as the head coach at IU, will tee it up as the tournament host for the Wolf Run Intercollegiate at Wolf Run Golf Course in Zionsville, Indiana, to begin the season from Sept. 8-10. This season marks the 10th playing of the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, where IU has six team finishes of fifth or better and have had two individual champions.
The following week, Sept. 15-17, the Hoosiers travel to Olympia Fields CC near Chicago for one of the most prestigious college golf tournaments in the country – the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. The field is annually one of the most elite in the country and features many of the top collegiate golfers in the country.
The fall season continues Oct. 8-9 with the Windon Memorial hosted by Northwestern University at the Evanston Golf Club.
Indiana will host its second tournament of the year when they welcome an outstanding field of teams to Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana, on Oct. 16-17. The Hoosiers have hosted this tournament in 2013 and 2015 and finish sixth and ninth, respectively.
To close out the fall portion of the schedule, the team will travel west to Maui, Hawaii, for the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational on Nov. 3-5. This will be the Hoosiers second trip to Ka'anapali Golf Course after playing there in 2015 and taking 10th place.
The Big Ten Match Play Championship will get the Spring season started for IU when they take on fellow Big Ten teams in a match play setting Feb. 9-10 at Hammock Beach Resort – Ocean Course in Palm Coast, Florida.
A return to stroke play take IU to the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular at El Campeon GC in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, from March 17-18 while on Spring Break. The last time IU played in this tournament was in 2013 and they came away with the team championship.
Indiana will make its first appearance at the BIGHORN Collegiate on March 23-24 at the Canyons Course at Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, California.
Following the Irish Creek Intercollegiate on April 7-8 in Kannapolis, North Carolina – the first time back since the 2014 edition – the Hoosiers will conclude the regular season at the Boilermaker Intercollegiate from April 14-15 at the Kampen Course on campus of Purdue University.
For the second straight year, the Big Ten Championship will be contested at the Baltimore Country Club from April 27-29.
NCAA Regionals will take place May 14-16 at one of the following sites: Lonnie Poole Golf Course (Raleigh, N.C.); Traditions Club (Bryan, Texas); Scarlet Course (Columbus, Ohio); Reunion Resort (Kissimmee, Fla.); Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (Norman, Okla.) and The Reserve at Spanos Park (Stockton, Calif.).
And the year will conclude at the NCAA Championship hosted by Oklahoma State at Karsten Creek GC in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
