BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – The 2017 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas concluded earlier this week and it capped over a week of strong performances by the five former Indiana players that were participating on various teams. Troy Williams finished fifth in scoring while Thomas Bryant helped the Los Angeles Lakers claim the Summer League title.
Here's a look back at how Williams, Bryant, James Blackmon Jr., Kevin Yogi Ferrell and Will Sheehey performed this summer:
Troy Williams (Houston Rockets)
Williams led the Rockets in scoring at 22.0 points per game over the five games he played and ranked second in scoring among all players in the Summer League that played at least five games. He was listed by ESPN.com as one of the biggest surprises at the Summer League in Las Vegas as he shot 45.3 percent from the floor and averaged 3.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.2 steals.
Yogi Ferrell (Dallas Mavericks)
Ferrell steered the Mavericks to the semifinals of the Summer League tournament before bowing out to the eventual champions, the Los Angeles Lakers. He played in six games with the Mavericks and averaged 13.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.2 steals while playing 27.8 minutes per game.
Thomas Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers)
Bryant, the second round pick of the Lakers in the 2017 Draft, played in all eight games on the way to winning the Las Vegas Summer League championship. He averaged 13.4 minutes per game and produced 5.1 points – on 66.7 percent shooting – while hauling in 3.3 rebounds. He also registered 0.6 assists and 0.6 blocks per game.
James Blackmon Jr. (Philadelphia 76ers)
Blackmon, who signed an free agent deal with the 76ers after the 2017 NBA Draft, played in three games in Las Vegas and also appeared in two games for Philadelphia in the Utah Jazz Summer League. In Las Vegas, he played 15.3 minutes per game and averaged 8.3 points and 2.3 rebounds while shooting 43.5 percent from the floor. Overall for the five games, he averaged 8.0 points and 2.6 rebounds.
Will Sheehey (Toronto Raptors)
Sheehey made his third appearance in the NBA Summer League after playing with the Knicks (2015) and the Pelicans (2016) the previous two seasons. This year in Las Vegas, he averaged 7.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks in 21.9 minutes with the Raptors.
