IUWS to Celebrate 25th Season
7/21/2017 1:32:00 PM | Women's Soccer
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer will celebrate its 25th season this fall and will highlight the program's history in the 25 days leading up to the season opener through a social media countdown.
Beginning on Aug. 24, each day will feature a different memory, player or coach from the program's 25 years. Fans can follow along with the countdown and contribute their favorite moments on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
"This is a big milestone for the program and a wonderful time to reflect back on how Indiana Women's Soccer has developed over the years," said head coach Amy Berbary. "We have so many alumni that we are forever indebted to and celebrating 25 seasons will be a great way to not only be reminded of how they contributed to those moments, but also look ahead to creating more memories in 2017."
The program was started in 1993 as Joe Kelley was appointed head coach to help transition the team from club to varsity. Since then, more than 250 players have donned the Cream and Crimson to lead the program to where it is today.
Indiana will kick off the 2017 campaign as the Hoosiers take on Cal Poly at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m. Admission to all Indiana Women's Soccer games is free of charge.
