BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Golf head coach Clint Wallman has announced the promotion of Lauren Harling to associate head coach, effective immediately.
The Indiana alum has spent the last six seasons on staff as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Her efforts have guided the Hoosiers to two NCAA Tournament appearances in that time (2012-13, 2015-16) and a host of player honors, including Camille Chevalier (Second Team All-Big Ten), Elizabeth Tong (First Team All-Big Ten, NCAA individual appearance) and 31 Academic All-Big Ten selections.
"Lauren is a tireless worker who has consistently given her best to the program for the past six years as our assistant coach," Wallman said. "She has great relationships with our students and does the little things to make our program successful. I'm thrilled she has been elevated into this position and look forward to her continued future as a Hoosier."
Under Harling's guidance, Chevalier set a new IU single season scoring average record in 2015-16 (73.61) and finished her career ranked fifth overall in scoring average (75.65). Tong finished T31st at the 2015 NCAA Championships while her 2013-14 squad posted four top 10 finishes. In 2012-13 Harling helped direct the program back to the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2010, as they qualified for the NCAA Central Regional in Norman, Okla. The Hoosiers climbed seven spots from their previous Big Ten Championship finish and posted their best showing since 2010, placing fifth in 2013.
A 2008 graduate of Indiana with a degree in business, Harling played two seasons in Cream and Crimson where she tied for 21st at the Big Ten Championships in 2007 and tied for 21st at the 2007 NCAA Central Regional with a three-round score of 225. Her efforts helped the Hoosiers make the 24-team NCAA Championship field in 2007, IU's first NCAA Championship appearance since 1998. In 2008, Harling and the Hoosiers advanced to the postseason for the second-straight year, appearing in the NCAA East Regional in Athens, Georgia. She spent the 2008-09 season on staff as a volunteer assistant at IU.
Harling is also a member of the Alliance of Women Coaches and completed the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy in June 2016.
