SALT LAKE CITY - Former Indiana University men's basketball player James Blackmon Jr. made his professional debut in an NBA Summer League game for the Philadelphia 76ers last night. The Marion, Indiana, native played 19 minutes in the Sixers 100-94 loss to the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.
"It's just a blessing to be out there and to have this opportunity," said Blackmon. "I'm happy to play on a stage like this and hard work will always pay off in the end."
He had 8 points and 4 rebounds and had the sixth most minutes played on the team. He made three of six field goal attempts, including one of three from three-point range. In addition, he had a plus 7 impact on the team.
Philadelphia has one more game in the Salt Lake version of the NBA Summer League, tonight against San Antonio at 7 p.m. They will begin play at the Las Vegas Summer League Saturday against Golden State at 10:30 p.m. on ESPN.
